Sivasakthi Kuan Yin Hindu temple located in Bagan Dalam, Butterworth has received notice of eviction from the developer Chiap Thian holdings Sdn Bhd. This temple was established in the '70s when the original owner was a Chinese. Temple administration soon taken by the Indians. According to lawyers Mr.Dasaratharaj, RM18, 000 was offered to the temple committee by the developer, but the offer was rejected by the temple committee. Instead, the temple committee to make a claim to the developer to be given alternative land and rebuild the temple. According to Hindraf adviser Mr.N Ganesan, this issue must be seen through the perspective of human rights, particularly minority rights in this country. He requested that the state government of penang must see this issue seriously and find a reasonable solution. "The lifestyle of the community should not be compromised for profit" he commented.

I would like to thank malaysiakini especially Mr.Maran Perianen, Indrani Kopal, Shufian Shukur,Lyn D'CruZ for choosing my video as a best citizen journalist video for the year 2011. I got this award for a documentary entitled "Another Kampung Buah Pala in the making?" which tells the story of the people of Tamil settlemet in the st francis xavier church compound, Penang. While attending the second Annual CJ Conference on 23rd to 25th at 11@Century Hotel,Johor Bahru I was awarded a trophy, canon sponsored camcorder and printer. I also would like to thank my wife Ratha Rajoo who always encourage me for my success. I hope to produce more quality documentaries in future for my community. Thanks to all for the wishes and encouragement!

Pada 3 Julai, 2011 lebih kurang 11.00 pagi, sebuah trailer milik Petronas yang penuh dengan petrol telah mengalami kemalangan dan terbakar di KM 202 Kamunting, Lebuhraya Utara-Selatan. Pemandu trailer dapat menyelamatkan diri dengan kecedaraan ringan. Akhirnya pihak bomba dapat memadamkan api. Kemalangan ini menyebabkan kesesakan trafik di kedua-dua arah berterusan untuk 2 jam.

Mahkamah Tinggi Pulau Pinang hari ini menolak rayuan 30 ahli PSM yang ditahan pada 25 Jun di Plaza Tol Sungai Dua, Pulau Pinang semasa berkempen "Udahla tu, Bersarala". Mahkamah memutuskan tahanan 30 aktivis PSM terus direman sehingga 7 2 Julai untuk penyiasatan lanjut oleh pihak polis.
30 aktivis PSM yang sedang menghadapi tuduhan dibawah Akta Hasutan, Akta Penerbitan dan Percetakan dan Akta 122 telah dikaitkan dengan percubaan untuk menghidupkan balik ideologi komunisme dan menentang istitusi raja di negara ini.
Sebaliknya, PSM menolak tuduhan tersebut dengan sekeras-kerasnya.

On June 28, 2011 more than 200 local thugs from Kepala Batas flooded IPD Kepala Batas to demand 40 PSM members and families of detainess to vacate the area immediately.
To avoid tense situation, PSM supporters and family members of 30 detainees dispersed, and later escorted by several PAS members to Markas PAS Negeri to stay for the night.

31 PSM activists including Member of Parliament of Sungai Siput Dr. Michael Jayakumar Devaraj was arrested in Sungai Dua, Penang on 25th June,2011. They were detained while promoting PSM's "Udahla tu... Bersarala" campaign which was directed at Barisan Nasional.
They were detained under three charges- illegal assembly, sedition and for publishing pamphlets and leaflets against the Printing and Publications Act.
Thirty of them have been remanded for seven days by the Butterworth Magistrate's Court while 16-year-old S Ragu has been released unconditionally.
Meanwhile, Human Rights Party's National Advisor Mr.N Ganesan mocked the government's way of handling the public and called for immediate release of the detained PSM members. Read more...

150 year old St. Francis Xavier's Tamil Heritage village residents received a summon each from the lawyers representing the bishop's office calling on them to vacate their houses soon, despite the fact they or their ancestors have been living there since the colonial days. Will this Indian Heritage village going to be another Kampung Buah Pala?
